Sequels: “Just say no”
Sequels to buddy pics. Things just somehow can’t work out well with them. Usually because one of the buddies has gone on to great things while the other one languished in… oblivion.
It’s kinda like the situation of ”Bosom Buddies” if you remember that hilarious show…Tom Hanks? and that other guy who no one remembers? In drag so they could live in some cheap apartment house or something? And then Tom Hanks goes on to win a couple of Oscars, and…Peter Something-or-Other, well he does something else. He probably calls Tom every once in a while to talk about the good old days.
So now there’s word of “BIll and Ted Part 3“, “Dumb & Dumber To”, and “Ghostbusters 3″ actually maybe happening. You know, getting the original guys back together to recreate that buddy pic magic. But for some reason the famous guys aren’t so jazzed about signing up yet. Jim Carey, Billy Murray and Keanu are probably eyeballing the offers and wondering what all those zeroes would look like on a check.
So, it’s on again, it’s off again. And the sad thing is, the reunions, if they happen will never be as good as the originals. Or not. Fingers crossed.
